Babka, also called Bobka, Baba, is a Polish sweet which is a kind of leavened bread made with a rich dough (often containing raisins). It is usually made for Easter Sunday to celebrate the rising of Christ. Babka is very popular in Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and west of Russia. Traditional Babka cake will be added fruit cake stuffing, and coated with fruit flavors icing sugar to add luster. Some Babka cakes use chocolate or cheese filling.
